On January 15, 2009, US Airways Flight 1549 struck a flock of birds shortly after takeoff, losing all engine power. Pilots Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger III and Jeffrey Skiles decided to glide the plane to ditching on the Hudson, saving the lives of all his passengers and crew members in the process.
