where I live now is sorta close to the airport, but my office is within spitting distance of both airplanes and train tracks and it’s usually a day full of landing noises and train horns
Our house in Alaska was downwind of runway 15 at Merrill Field. The largest and busiest small airplane airport in the WORLD. All day long, every day was… RRRRR….. RRRRR….. RRRRR…..RRRRR….. RRRRR….. RRRRR…..RRRRR….. RRRRR….. RRRRR…..RRRRR….. RRRRR….. RRRRR…..RRRRR….. RRRRR….. RRRRR…..RRRRR….. RRRRR….. RRRRR…..RRRRR….. RRRRR….. RRRRR…..RRRRR….. RRRRR….. RRRRR…..RRRRR….. RRRRR….. RRRRR….. etc.
One of those flew over me while I came riding into Wichita, KS in 2001. The shadow even hit me!

It was landing, so it was pretty close to me. They were based there.
