TBS played Heavy Metal (heavily edited), Vampire Hunter D, and Robot Carnival all on the same night. I was hooked. Stayed up to 5 am on a school night. Sooo worth it.
After that, the only way you could get it was via bootleg. Turns out, getting the rights to play it took for ever; all the music rights were only ever negotiated for a theater release, and no one could agree on the details.
