As a reformed Trekkie, I’m glad that they reworked her character to move from a one dimensional “feelings” dowsing rod (Captain, I sense the other side is angry (no shit)) (more of a lousy writing technique to broadcast info to the audience), to an actual honest to gawd Line Officer of the Flag ship of the fleet. That high up the chain, one is an Officer first, with specializations secondary.
